TDT-A3-3P-EV032 Embedded AC EV Charger for Smart Lamp Posts
A charging module that becomes part of the lamp post. The TDT-A3-3P-EV032 is built for 230/400 V networks: 22 kW from three phases at 32 A, with Type 2 connection, OCPP 1.6J and a housing made to sit inside round or square poles.
- 22 kW at 400 V three-phase; reduced output on 230 V single-phase
- Type 2 socket, EN IEC 61851 / EN 62196
- Wi-Fi, Ethernet and RFID standard; 4G/LTE optional
- IP54, −30 °C to +50 °C operating range
- OEM housing, colour and branding available
Why put the charger inside the pole
Street lighting columns already have a power feed and already stand beside the kerb. Integrating the charging electronics into the column removes the pedestal, the separate foundation and the extra obstruction on a narrow pavement. For a municipality or a residential compound, that can mean faster approvals and a cleaner streetscape.
The unit is intended for new smart poles and for retrofit projects where the pole can accept an embedded module. Cable entry is from the bottom, with bottom or front exit depending on the pole design.

Installation notes
The charger is mounted inside a compatible lamp pole. TDT supplies the model drawing for the pole cut-out and fixing centres; the pole manufacturer or installer confirms that the column can carry the module and the cable route.
| Feeder | 3 × 6 mm² for single-phase, or 5 × 6 mm² for three-phase, subject to cable length and local rules |
|---|---|
| Network run | Shielded Cat 5 (or better) where a wired network connection is used |
| Protection device | 40 A is the standard recommendation; a 63 A device is also compatible |
| Cable route | Bottom entry; bottom or front exit |
Final electrical design, discrimination and earthing remain the responsibility of the project engineer and must follow the local installation standard.
Planning a lamp-post charging project
Retrofit work lives or dies on the survey. Before quoting, the project team should answer five questions about the lighting column and the supply behind it.
- Feeder capacity. Is there spare capacity at the lighting circuit, or does the column need a dedicated feed? A 22 kW unit is a serious load compared with an LED luminaire.
- Phase availability. Three-phase 400 V unlocks the full rating. Many lighting circuits are single-phase; the same charger still works there, with lower power.
- Pole condition and geometry. Round or square profile, wall thickness, internal clear space and the position of the door all decide whether an embedded module fits.
- Earthing and fault protection. The column needs a reliable earth electrode and the upstream device must coordinate with the charger's built-in DC fault detection.
- Connectivity and back-end. Wired Ethernet, Wi-Fi or cellular — and which platform will handle authorisation, tariffs and session records.
Send the answers with the pole drawing and we will mark up the cut-out, fixing centres and cable route on our model drawing. That keeps the electrician and the pole supplier working from one document.
16 A or 32 A?
The internal selector lets an installer choose 16 A or 32 A. Choosing 16 A lowers the peak power and can avoid a costly supply upgrade where the lighting feeder is tight; choosing 32 A gives the full 22 kW on three-phase. The setting is physical, so the decision is made at commissioning and recorded on the label inside the housing.
What the installer should record
Commissioning an embedded charger is mostly about evidence. Before the housing door is closed, the electrician should photograph the torque marks on the terminals, the gasket seating, the cable gland and the earth bond. The insulation-resistance and loop-impedance readings, the RCD trip test and the selected 16 A/32 A setting belong on the commissioning sheet, together with the serial number and firmware version shown on the screen.
Those records matter later: they tell a maintenance team whether a fault is new, and they give the project owner a defensible handover pack for the lighting asset.
Delivery, documents and support
Each order ships with the model drawing, installation notes and the declaration of conformity for the variant supplied. Test reports, certificates and spare-part lists are shared with the project owner or installer where needed. Our engineers answer configuration questions before the order and stay available during commissioning, so the site team is not left working from a generic manual.
For distributors and OEM customers we can discuss labelling, packaging, a local model reference and a spare-parts plan. Tell us the market and the volumes you expect, and we will set out what is standard and what needs development.
Export orders are quoted with the requested Incoterm, usually FOB Shenzhen. The shipping pack includes the packing list, commercial invoice and the HS code we use for charging equipment. Where a buyer appoints a forwarder, we release the goods against the booking number and send the documents by email the same day. Sample orders follow the same route, which lets a buyer inspect the nameplate, the serial number and the firmware before committing to a container.
Compliance
The TDT-A3-3P-EV032 is CE marked. The declaration of conformity held by Shenzhen TDT covers the EMC and radio requirements for the communication modules fitted to each variant. The document lists the exact harmonised standards for the version you order, and we send it with the quotation pack.
Certification documents are issued to Shenzhen TDT and are available to project owners on request. Please tell us the destination country so we can confirm which documents apply.
Frequently asked questions
- What supply does the charger need?
- A 400 V three-phase supply gives the full 22 kW at 32 A. The same unit can run from 230 V single-phase, but the available output is lower.
- Can it be fitted to an existing lamp post?
- It is designed for poles that can accept an embedded module. Send us the pole drawing and we will confirm the cut-out and fixing arrangement before you order.
- How is the charger controlled?
- Drivers can start a session by plugging in, by RFID card, or through an app or back-end platform. OCPP 1.6J is supported for third-party management systems.
- Do you offer OEM versions?
- Yes. Housing, colour and branding can be adapted for a project or distributor. The electrical platform stays the same, so certification and spare-parts planning remain straightforward.
- Which documents come with the charger?
- The model drawing, installation notes and the declaration of conformity for the relevant variant. Test reports and certificates held by TDT can be shared under NDA where required.
- How quickly can you quote?
- Send the country, voltage, quantity and required delivery date. We normally answer within one working day.
